What a waste of time Lagenda Budak Setan was. Pardon my naïveté for thinking Malay films have evolved for the better. Don’t get me wrong, they have in many aspects, but this ain’t it. Whilst it was adapted from an Ahadiat Akashah novel, I was reliably informed the adaptation is somewhat loose, with liberties taken in many aspects of the storytelling. And this being a first-parter? Nothing in the title, yo.

Now, this I like. I was enthralled with the first five minutes of the film when I viewed it prior to going out today. Looking forward to see all of it later. No tax rebate just because the dialogue’s in Chinese? C’mon, now.
