何度生まれ変わっても / No Matter How Many Lives
HELL, YEAH. For the antagonists, at the very least. A nice slowing down of pace to reach the end of this short-ish arc. The usual reveal of how the two antagonists came into being also introduces the audience to a high ranking demon who is voiced byMamoru Miyano (and appropriately so too considering how he voiced Natsume Zange in Inu x Boku SS).
This season finale whilst touted as having runtime of 45 minutes turned out to be 32. Not the first time we see this really – a longer run time was also announced for S2E07 at the end of the Mugen ressha-hen. The studio/stations weren’t really fibbing as the 45 mins would include the TV ads that non-Japanese viewers won’t see on their streaming platforms, plus the ED has the aimer song played in full during the credits.
This episode comprised the rest of volume 11 in full (chapters 95-97, not a page more nor less). Prior to the screening of this final episode, ufotable formally announced that season 3 will be in production although no release date was given.
This upcoming new season will contain the 刀鍛冶の里編 Katana-kaji no sato-hen (Swordsmith village arc). Reprising their roles as Tokitō Muichirō (mist hashira) and Kanroji Mitsuri (love hashira) first introduced in S1 are Kawanishi Kengo and (the delectable) Hanazawa Kana, respectively.
