The evening went very well , much to the relief of Peyek and friends, as this was their first ever gig they’ve held. It was held in a sports hall of Cardiff University which evoked, obviously, the music vid for Smells Like Teen Spirit. It felt like I was the only non-teen at the event anyway. Heh.

I played for a band called The Voks (which is an actual working/gigging band in KL – Fadh, the guitarist is the sole member playing at this gig for obvious reasons) and we played a series of Sabbath and Strokes covers, as well as an original Voks ditty. The highlights of the evening included Selamat Pagi Treforest’s rendition of Sultans of Swing and Layla, Borhan’s Trio’s attempt at Floyd’s Comfortably Numb and Hazwan’s singing of Coldplay’s Yellow with The Up/Down band. The shindig had a nice atmosphere to it and with the guys running it like a tight ship, the show finished on time. It had been a long day and by then my stomach reminded me that I only had two small meals for the day. Post-gig, it was down to the local curry favourite on City Road.

As it was Six Nations Rugby weekend (Wales beat Italy 33-10 at the Millennium Stadium that day), most of the hotels were fully booked. The one I got was lovely albeit pricier than the ones I’ve stayed in Londres. Much to my surprise (after a good night’s kip), Sunday was sunny. This is err… Wales we’re talking about.

I still kicked myself for not having the foresight of getting a guidebook early enough (I had to get a Lonely Planet one as all my other ones are by them too. Sad.). Driving around was pretty easy and I got to Castell Caerdydd fine. I had a great time taking photos although I have to say switching lenses was a right pain (someone suggested I get another Canon body, banyak la).
