The mods cons of a business seat include a shoe compartment to the front of your massively spacious leg room, just in front a foot rest that adjusts its height automatically whenever you alter the seat configuration. The video screen is a digital widescreen with touchscreen features (this is the same with the A380 economy class although smaller). As touching the screen requires you leaning forwards and unbuckling your seatbelt, a detachable console is available on my right to move the onscreen cursor. The console also houses a touchscreen keypad for email/texting although it costs USD1 a shot, which I gave a pass. On my right next to this console’s charging ducket was also a mini non-alcoholic bar with a glass, mineral water and small cans of soft drinks.

The food served was of a better class, for obvious reasons. You had a choice of bread and as many as you want (the same as on Golden Club). The fruit platter for breakfast was beautifully laid out on daun pisang. I noticed that being an ‘upgrade’ probably accorded you a lesser privilege as the filet mignon option for lunch was ‘dah habis‘ even though I saw the passenger next to me was somehow happily tucking into his portion! The alternative of a Middle Eastern version of ayam masak merah with nasi was good enough for me. Treatment was fantastic and this is maintained regardless whether you were on business or economy class, but I must say the way the cabin staff served the meals were of a different class – you could see it in their posture (complete with the left arm placed neatly on the back) when pouring a glass of champagne! At the end of the meal, we got ourselves a small golden box of Godiva chocolates each.
