The telly of choice was a Samsung 55″ 3D LED from the 7 series range. This is not a pissing contest – the 50-55″ range was the optimal size for the cinema experience in the media room, hence the choice. 50″ was good enough but the LED sizes for the 7 series jumped straight to 55″ after 46″. Most of the high street retailers are selling them at 1p short of two grand – complete with offers of “free” blu-ray players and the lot. Well, when the actual telly is £400-ish less than two grand, one wonders what is so “free” about the extras. Personally, I’d rather choose the blu-ray player myself than be forced to accept any old box decided by some shop.
The telly barely fitted into Buffy and that’s after taking it out of the box. I had Faddly tag along as: 1. he has a Costco card (five years free warranty, beb) 2. the handling/setting up of something of this proportion requires at least two people. The optimum height of the telly in the media room was obtained by merely using the stand, although I may decide at a later date to actually get a wall bracket, not that I need the shelf space for anything.
