I didn’t catch the recent Anugerah Juara Lagu (for obvious reasons) but I’ve heard about the furore from certain parties about awarding the best song award to Ana Raffali. I know of her stuff and not any more than that she writes her own material like most young Malaysian musicians this day and age (remember the oft-needed “lagu oleh M Nasir dan lirik oleh Baiduri” to simply win anything?). I was scouring the net to find the reasons behind this when I chanced upon AJL in an unexpected but well-used site (I won’t devulge which site for reasons you will see in a bit). The page lists the past winners and song titles with its (appalling) English translation.

Now, (no cheating) tell me which past AJL winner sang the following songs – “Queen of Sheba”, “Just At The Outskirts”, “You Locked My Love In Your Heart”, “On Your Heavenly Face”, “Ask The Woodpecker” and “Wilting Lotus on the Lake of Honey”. I know, the last two take the cake.
