The first time I heard this tenny’s Lana del Rey‘s non-singing voice was on The Chris Evan’s Breakfast Show on Radio 2 a few months back whilst driving on the M1 to work. She had a cold then but nevertheless she didn’t sound anything like her singing voice. You’d be excused if you thought she was a senior in high school (she’s 25 by the way)! I really like her voice, really. Not heard anything like this since Siobhan Fahey was singing her parts with Marcella Detroit as Shakespear’s Sister and Lana’s no goth. It’s unfortunate her detractors are kinda focussing on her banyak duit background (so were the lads in The Strokes but the proof is in the pudding as they say), and I hope the other 13 tracks on her deluxe CD are just as great.

Been dabbling with iMovie ’11 again of late, and this time not on gig vids (I still have that Pearl Jam 2009 show to do, though). I was at my nephew’s aqiqah in Manchester a fortnight ago and took the chance to do shoot some random and candid shots of the event. One thing for sure, I still cannot get enough of the two lens I currently own for the 550D – the 50mm f/1.8 for the depth-of-field shots and the ultra wide 10-22mm that captures virtually everything. There were stills of the house and antics of all who were present, which was a joy to review before choosing the specific shots. Spent about 15 hours of work on a 20-minute footage but it was well worth it. I am still a novice at editing and it’ll be a while before I could even dream of trying out Final Cut Pro X. Here’s a sample from what I took the day after the aqiqah:

Note to self – aim to reduce camera shakes!
