i am a sucker for limited edition pressings of CD’s. or jap/US imports. this obsession deserves an entry of its own, so i’m just gonna talk about those of the ‘tallica. apart from the load and reload CD’s, i buy my ‘tallica CD’s on import – jap ones for justice and the black album for their extra tracks (err… i listen to so what on my jap pressing of metallica, not garage frickin’ inc, thank you very much), and american (on elektra records) for kill ’em all to puppets. there is no difference, still sound the bloody same but hey, that’s what being a collector is all about.

so when they decided to sell their latest opus in a coffin-shaped box, i had to buy it. got it off amazon for a little under £80. what’s in it? the CD, of course. and these:

if you’re looking for a review, check out krenmaut‘s (i agree with him – yes, i’ve relented and finally like the day that never comes. oi, sue me lah). like the limited edition st. anger CD, there’s a DVD called making magnetic, but this time, instead of a jam sesh, it’s pretty much the making of... if you’ve watched the dismal version of the band in some kind of monster, they look totally different this time. i felt that the intensity of their jams/recording seshes was somewhat reminiscent of the black album period (see year and a half in the life of…). then there’s the demo. just check out the alternative titles!

what else? a tee (see the previous entry), a dog tag, four guitar picks (which i will not use!), a black flag (which may go to the jamming room behind the drumkit) and a code for a free download of material from metallica.com.

happy? what do you think?
