お久しぶり – as they would say long time no see[1] in Japanese. The digest series is a hodge-podge of random posts when I get really lazy. But, hey – I have been lazier than usual of late if you hadn’t noticed. Initially I’ve not thought of any particular theme for today’s[2] digest, so I was just about to wing it until I thought about Thyme. I’ve written about this place like ten years ago, and briefly again two years after that. Thyme has always been a firm favourite of mine as the food they serve is just delish, well presented and pretty generous. Sunday lunchtime tends to be the time I turn up and the pickings aren’t slim when I check out what they have on the menu, which is scribbled on the blackboard. I’m not gonna pretend to know how to describe food but I hope the pics would say it all.

The 20-quid risotto

Okay, that’s not the name of the dish but this was one of the best risotto I’ve ever had[3]. The creaminess of the arborio rice worked so well with the pan-fried scallops and mussels, as well as the contrasting acidity of the vine tomatoes, all of which I should say were present in abundance.

That wasn’t the first risotto I had here, either. Their menu changes regularly and this version with pan-fried sea bass was one I had last summer.

Tiger prawn spaghetti, chilli, lemon, garlic, coriander and parmesan

A simple pasta dish if you wanna have something a tad lighter. Pretty much an aglio e olio but of a spiced up variety thanks to the chill. Check out the Tiger prawns – once again, Thyme has yet never failed in providing a decent amount of prawns for this dish. You are never left with three or four morsels of just spaghetti because there’s always some prawn left!

Carrot and coriander falafel burger, spiced red onion, feta, fries and courgette tzatziki

I quite like falafel and wasn’t surprised to have enjoyed this vege burger with a middle Eastern slant!

Desserts

I don’t think any words would do justice. If you ever come to this place, try this brownie and ice cream combo:

And this honeycombed butterscotch thingy with vanilla and and choc ice cream:

The desserts are like a fiver each but so well worth it.

I just realised that in neither of the older blog posts, had I written down the address of this fine place. On a Sunday, you either turn up at 12PM on the dot or wait til it’s like half 3 as it gets right busy.
