I don’t really need it for the summer although ayah being from a more tropical climate needs it more, especially with the recent random nippy spells we’ve been getting despite it being the month of June. After being in the house for about 2-odd years, I’ve taken the big step in changing the boiler. The old one (the British Gas engineer had never heard of the make!) was a noisy obsolete machine, inefficient to boot (probably a G rated boiler) but has good enough pressure for my Grohe thermostatic shower.

Getting any kind of tradesman can be a right nightmare if you get the wrong one. Word-of-mouth is the way to go but the subjectivity of opinions you get from your friends on who should be the best man for the job can be more confusing than what its worth. So it was back to the Rated People website that I used for my previous radiator job to get some quotes. You actually get a feel for who should be getting the job by directly dealing with the potential tradespeople, and cheap doesn’t necessarily mean good! One of them didn’t even bother to come to the property and was happy to give a quote equivalent to the boiler itself. Kasi free workmanship, is it? When it’s too good to be true, forget about it.
