Dirgahayu weekend is a bit more reserved this past weekend. Once again, it was down in Londres with the gang (sans The Codgers unfortunately – nemind, next year ada insyaAllah). This time The Cornells have a new member in da house, and I’ve yet to see the lad who’s now 3 months old. With this lil’ addition, we opted for a place with a more family vibe to it. And guess what has recently opened within a stone’s throw from The Cornell’s flat?

I’ve heard of Tinseltown, known for its milkshakes, from a mate of mine who had been to the Leicester (the nearest for us Sheffielders) restaurant. I’ve had my fair share of decent halal steak in Sheffield but to finally eat at a TGIF/HRC kind of place that doesn’t limit you to ikan or salad piqued my interest, and I’ve heard of the sizes of the servings at this place!

I am just amazed how any large plate of meat can fill the average human stomach depending on the rate of consumption. Don’t get me started on the size of the burgers – trying to bite all three patties of The Vesuvius in one go means dislocating your mandible. Jimbo and I opted for the mixed grill which has a 4 oz sirloin, a few pieces of lamb chops, chicken breast and a sausage, together with fries and salad. I have to say I was well pleased with the steak. The meat was superbly tender although it was a little overcooked despite requesting a medium. I opted for the cream and mushroom gravy for the steak as having a peri-peri condiment would only Nando-ise the meat.

Among the nine of us, we had three triple burgers, three steaks (Mrs Cornell and Mrs Seventudjoh ate each other’s order by mistake), one butterfly chicken (or was it a hot dog) and of course, the two servings of gluttony known as the mixed grill. I’d love to come again and try the triple burgers, although Jimbo reckons by Wednesday they would’ve probably tried every item on the menu!
