*they had these at the nottingham malaysian games food court today

met the sheepwoman today, munching away on potato salad whilst i had some really dry satay (or an excuse for four sticks). i don’t know whether it was printed on our foreheads but we were asked if we had brought our SLRs for the day. strangely enough, i did think of bringing it but it didn’t feel like today was the occasion for me to play shutterbug. as i was walking towards my car parked at the trent building, i regrettedly wished that i had. the trent building’s clock tower lightly lit with the twilight sky in the background. the lake and the daun-less trees in the late afternoon. but it was an afternoon to play catch up.

and play observer.

now, one of my favourite online reads is this. boy, if i have an iota of his observational skills, i could so do an essay on a particular subject this very moment. some people think the writer’s judgmental. i say he’s got exceptional descriptive abilities. but at the moment, i’m adopting the “if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all” approach for this entry.

but hey, things haven’t changed. it was like that when i was at med school, it is the same now.

being at the food court for the games, i could identify with the desperation of getting rid of your goods when you know it’s like two hours to closing time. yeah, especially when there are 5 stalls selling the same stuff and you have 2 million loaves of bread left. when i was in the first year at university, i helped man a roti canai stall. proudly selling them for two for a pound, only to bring the price down to something ridiculous like 5 for 50p. at the end, it was announced over the tannoy that i was giving them away for free. great businessman, i’d make. really.

this afternoon i had ayam goreng. with lemak-less nasi lemak (ok, nasi putih). and now i can get to be as happy as sam here.
