Kau nak pegi Jepun this November?”[1]

This past week would have been a different one for me if three or so months ago my holiday diary would tell me that I had one more week of annual leave left for 2011-2. I could’ve been in Tokyo. For like five or so days. But that’s not it. Another Japan-worthy happening that ain’t happening for me this week is missing Mami-chan rocking with her Strat in KL today. In fact, she is backstage at KL Live this very minute with Haru, Tomo and Rina listening to the screams of the rabid Scandal fans that had been waiting since the afternoon, but that’s another story lah. Mami-chaaaaaan!

Let’s just talk about the disappointment that is the Tokyo trip that could have been. Theneon/Murg was running the Fujisan Marathon[2] and would be spending about five days in Tokyo thereafter. What an opportunity for me right? I had to give the bloody disappointing answer of no for the reason I gave above. I actually can borrow about 5 days from next year but as luck would have it, I have flippin’ borrowed 5 days already. From what I gathered, despite the slight rain and the late autumn/early winter chill, it didn’t look too bad in Tokyo. The nearest thing to visiting Tokyo this week was virtually following theneon’s tireless Instagram exploits uploaded on Facebook. The banter was great as he was getting comments from quite a number of mates too. OK, if I had gone it would’ve meant an, err… awkward experience at the ryokan‘s onsen, but that’s a small[3] price to pay. And yup, missing the chance of exploring Shibuya, the parks and err, the Shakespeare & Co. branch in Akiba.

The following photo he took sums it up for me. Really.

[1]The question was in that ball park. I can’t really remember. I don’t jot down every question I get asked, you see.
[2]The 17 km version. Oh, I wouldn’t have done it in my current state. Hahaha.
[3]This is in no way a reference to the demon kobura.
