Had to give it a try.
Yup, I’ve never read shōjo manga and I think I can see how it differs from a shōnen romance (like Komi-san wa komyushō desu). IMHO a shōnen romance (ones that I am used to) allows the male reader to insert himself in the MC (who happens to have some believable attributes that makes him imperfect eg nerd, unreliable, boring – all mutually exclusive) and get to get the girl (Marin, Komi, Shikimori, Chitoge and the list goes on) albeit not that easily. I just read one volume of a shōjo so I cannot profess to have “figured it out” but it does feel that the story is seen ”the other way round”.
Premise – Yoshioka had a crush on a boy named Tanaka in middle school but he left school unannounced, until fate would have it that Yoshioka meets him again in high school. Will her crush on Tanaka be rekindled or even blossom to something greater…?
I enjoyed it. But volume 2 is currently out of stock. Just my luck.
