well, that’s what i said driving back from the multiplex last night. there’s a recent trend of halal chinese restaurants in britain lately. an example is chopstix at oxford street and charing cross road (nearest tube: tottenham court road) where i finally could enjoy lemon chicken and egg char fan without guilt. being peckish, i decided to head for noodle inn on london road for a little take-away.
had deep fried sotong in garlic and chilli and sizzling chicken in black bean sauce. i’ve been here a couple of times with friends and the food here is simply yum. their pak choi masak oyster sauce, albeit so simple, is just one of my favourites.
i know if you are in malaysia, all these are pretty much tak heran (muhibbah restaurant in taman tun, my favourite!) kind of fare. suppose that i’d just like to point out that i find this halal trend a welcoming one, especially when one could only order king prawn dishes every time one goes out for a chinese meal in this neck of the woods!
if only this halal trend is in belfast.. then my day out is not limited to kebabs and fish n chips 🙂
… or ceasar salads… 🙂
fish n chips tastes good. kebabs (sometimes) taste good.
but a caesar salad?
*whistling*
If it performs photosynthesis, I wouldn’t touch it with a 10-foot pole.
Fish is okay. But meat, real tough meat, is the way to go. Lamb, beef, deer, lamb again, more lamb, mutton, but lamb is just…
*Puts on SRV’s ‘Mary Had A Little Lamb.’
Going out to Tottenham Court Rd today. Take care, people.
oi. abbey road. BILA??????
yum yum… those food look gorgeous and mouth-watering. anyway, i had yon tau fu with zana at jaya jusco just now and it was brilliant. food these days, no wonder i can never stick to my diet plans.. hehehe..eat while you still can.. 😉
YONG TOW FOO??? tak aci!
*how much does it cost to fly back this time of the year? hmm*
🙂
Wanna know what I had over the weekend?
Started off with lamb curry with some salmon. Then had ayam masak lemak cili api. Again with some salmon. Then had lamb korma. Yup, with some salmon! Then had crispy aromatic duck to go with chicken in lemon sauce. In between all these dishes, had tons and tons of ice-cream mixed with the new(?) Kellogg’s Crunchy Nut Clusters Milk Chocolate Curls. Drank SEVEN 1.25 litres of sparkling fruit pop-ciders or something. Also had the Chopstix on Tottenham Court Rd. Had a slice of pizza. Also a portion of chocolate cheese cake.
I am, to say the least, very happy. Simple things, for simple people. 🙂
Oh, and it wouldn’t be such a big deal if not for the fact that apart from the obvious, most of everything was cooked straight from the home kitchen… Bliss.
Is The Neon one of those hateful people who won’t put on weight even if he scarfed a truckload of Yorkie bars?
Hmmpphh.. 😛
Kudo: The pics in this ‘edition’ of ‘Eh Laparlah’ I can bear coz the version we have here definitely more appetizing. Muahahaha
Muhibbah on me next time you in KL, eh? 😉 Just up the road, mah…
“If it performs photosynthesis, I wouldn’t touch it with a 10-foot pole.”
BTW, this got me laughing so much. HAHAHAHAHAHA
The trick is simple. I told ash (and everyone else, for that matter) that ‘Fat is OK!’. Don’t think about it. Just eat. And I have this want to die at 63-ish. So better stuff my face, because it’s not long now…
I also rationalise the fact that IF and WHEN I get fat, I could do one of either two things – diet and exercise like the rest of you fools (hahahahaha!), or practise until I play guitar like God himself intended it to be played. Face it, no Hollywood/Bollywood/European/Asian celebrity is cooler than Albert/Freddie/B.B. King, okay?
It’s just a matter of perception, really. And if I reaaally am desperate to lose weight…
… just find a woman. The day she leaves, I’d lose at least 15 pounds. 😉
THE Neon: Chaihh.. .Fool pun fool lah. I don’t want to be insulin-dependent like my Mum in my ‘old age’.
You lose 15 lbs when a woman leaves? Aiyo. I PUT ON 50 lbs if a guy leaves. Food is the ultimate ‘tranquilizer’. Beats valium any time. 😛 HAHAHAHA
CHOPSTIX outlets have indeed been popping out everywhere now, latest is at Bayswater (near the new MSD/Msia Hall).
By the way, all halal Lagenda Restaurant at Msian-owned Holiday Villa Hotel (Leinster Gardens, London W2) has started their chinese menu a few months ago; Ampang Yong Tau Fu pun ada, steamboat ada, etc. New chinese chef from Msia has been added to their kitchen staff. makannnnn….
This is irrelevant, but I used to think it was ‘Chopsti’ (sans the ‘x’) because the last letter is written in this wanky-type chopsticks-crossed-together with a green thing curling around it or something. I refused to believe my friends when they said it was ‘Chopstix’ cos the ‘x’ was reaally wanky, okay? They need a logo designer.
HoneyR: Not you, darling. I was talking about all them OTHER people. They’re the fools. You’re not. You’re good. Hihihihihi… (Jadi tak my kaver?). But I don’t know. I guess the acceptance of death makes one not want to live forever kot? I’m only 24, even then I feel life’s been such a let down. That’s how disappointing it’s been. Hehehe.. Again, *slight* difference in perception.
Tapi the Kellogg’s Crunchy Nut Chocolate Milk Curls tu memang CRAY-ZEE lah. They shouldn’t make something so good for breakfast. And utk people yang diet, they’d probably go, ‘Oh, there goes my calory requirement for the whole day. And it’s only 8 a.m.!
atok: THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seems that sambutan for food-related blogs is at an all-time high… and the funny thing is, some hits are from “gym-going people”… haha! Talk about ‘release’… 🙂
But still can’t beat HoneyR’s piece on Kudo… kan? Kena rerun la itu episode!
